NEFE Is at the Table
“Wherever financial literacy is being promoted, we want to be there.”
-Ted Beck, NEFE President & CEO
What NEFE Is
- We are a leading national advocate – a nonprofit organization with 501(c)3 status – devoted to furthering financial literacy. As part of that, we provide thoughts and opinions on issues of public policy related to financial education.
- Because NEFE has a highly visible profile, we feel we have a responsibility to speak up and help shape public policy on this vitally important issue.
What NEFE Is NOT
- NEFE is NOT a membership organization or a lobbying group.
- NEFE does not necessarily endorse any group with whom we associate on a given initiative. Instead, we work toward goals – often, common goals – with like-minded organizations.
NEFE’s Various Public Policy Activities:
We provide testimony.
We serve on task forces and commissions.
We sponsor conferences, symposia, and other events, as well as produce white papers on financial literacy issues. These are just a few:
- The State of Financial Literacy in America
- The Debt Cycle: Using Payday Loans to Make Ends Meet
- Long-Term Care: Our Next National Crisis
- NEFE Retirement Income Planning Roundtable
We speak and participate at many events. Here are a few:
- May 2006: Disasters and Financial Planning
