In September 2014, NEFE hosted the Young Adults and Financial Capability in Washington, D.C. The event started with three presentations of NEFE-funded research:

Life After College: Drivers for Young Adult Success, presented by Soyeon Shim, Ph.D., Joyce Serido, Ph.D., and Mike Staten, Ph.D.

Financial Behavior, Debt, and Early Life Transitions, presented by Rachel E. Dwyer, Ph.D.

Financial Capability Among Young Adults, presented by Annamaria Lusardi, Ph.D.
These presentations were followed by a facilitated discussion about the implications of the research. This conversation ultimately led to the development of a white paper that provides greater clarity around the context and educational needs to young adults. Approximately 30 attendees participated in the forum, including practitioners, researchers and policymakers.
